Microbiological collections and Conservation
of Biological resources
The microbiological collections associated with the INCT will develop studies on the taxonomy, ecology and evolution of deposited strains with clinical, agricultural and biotechnological applications, with the aim of ensuring data integrity, accurate documentation and appropriate access for researchers.
The network unites culture collections from ten academic and research institutions (CMRP/Taxonline-PR, EMBRAPA-Floresta-PR, Fiocruz-AM, UFMA-MA, UFDPar-PI, UFMS-MS, UFPE-PE, UFSC-SC, UNESP-SP, UNIFESP-SP), with plans to expand through the incorporation of new species strains, infrastructure enhancements, and equipment acquisitions. Furthermore, the INCT provides ongoing training to keep professionals up to date, enhancing service quality and development. These initiatives aim to expand knowledge access, foster collaboration, and promote awareness of the role of collections in advancing scientific research and innovation.

To implement, maintain, and expand the storage capacity and service offerings of biological material collections nationwide, following standard quality procedures adopted by the networked collections associated with this INCT and in compliance with current legislation;

To expand the CMRP/Taxonline and associated repositories by integrating biological material that include microbial and parasite species strains, plasmid collections and mammalian cells, and with records in an integrated network, facilitating access and use of information preserved in collections using online databases.

Promote the sustainability potential of biological collections regarding biodiversity conservation and management of deposited biological resources;

Implementation of a collection of fungi of clinical interest in a reference hospital for Tropical Medicine in the state of Amazonas;

Expand the collection of endophytic isolates from flowers and fruit trees;

Standardization of the cataloging of specimens deposited in the network collections through an integrated data recording system;

Expansion of the existing physical space of the CMRP/Taxonline headquarters laboratory and improvement of the conservation infrastructure of the associated laboratories of the UEM, UEL and UTFPR units;

Establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for conservation, cultivation routine, identification and exchange cultures (loan, receipt, sell and/or donation) of lineages from the collections;
